Hammer toes
Hammer toe is a toe deformity characterized by abnormal curvature of the middle and distal joints, giving the toe a hammer- or claw-like shape.
This condition can be caused by factors such as ill-fitting shoes, muscle imbalances, neurological disorders or a history of injuries.
Hammertoes can cause pain, irritation and calluses where they rub against shoes. Symptoms can worsen over time if the deformity is left untreated, making it difficult to wear normal shoes and affecting walking.
