Podopediatrics
Is your child experiencing pain? Are you concerned about their gait or posture?
At Clinique Mon Podiatre, we believe that early intervention can prevent future complications and improve your child’s well-being. It’s crucial never to underestimate the pain your child feels, as it can have significant consequences such as reduced physical activity and increased risk of developing chronic conditions.
Common Issues in Children:
- Flat feet
- High-arched feet
- Bunions (HAV)
- Hammer toes
- Inward-turned feet
- Toe walking
- Improper alignment of the lower limbs
- Pain associated with growth plates
- Ingrown nails or visually abnormal nails
These abnormalities can also cause fatigue and discomfort in your child. We emphasize early assessment and appropriate management for each patient.
Most postural issues can benefit from custom orthotic inserts. Orthotics can help improve foot function and control pain. Orthotic treatment is not necessarily a lifelong commitment. Many conditions will normalize with physiological development and growth. However, in some cases, the expertise of a podiatrist is necessary to ensure optimal child development.
Our podiatrists value a multidisciplinary approach because combining expertise is key to comprehensive care. We are delighted to collaborate with pediatricians, family doctors, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, and many others.
It is recommended to consult a podiatrist at Clinique Mon Podiatre for an evaluation shortly after your child starts walking, around 12-18 months of age.
If you have concerns about your child’s foot position or lower limb alignment, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
