Morton’s neuroma
Morton’s neuroma is a painful condition that affects the feet, particularly the spaces between the toes, usually between the third and fourth toes. This is a formation of thickened nerve tissue, often the result of repeated pressure or trauma.
Typical symptoms include burning, tingling or stabbing pain under the foot, especially when walking or compressing the toes. Sometimes this can cause a sensation of a foreign body or lump under the foot.
Risk factors include activities that put excessive pressure on the feet, such as running or wearing shoes with high, narrow heels.
