Toenail fungus
Nail fungus is a fungal infection of the nails, usually caused by dermatophytes, but sometimes by yeasts or molds. Mycosis results from the penetration of micro-organisms on a nail that is not in good condition. The fungus can spread and contaminate other nails.
This condition is characterized by thickening of the nail, discoloration of the nail (yellow, white, green or black), brittle and crumbling nails and nail deformity. Discomfort may also be present.
