Plantar warts
Plantar wart is a viral infection of the skin. Plantar warts are painful skin growths caused by a viral infection of the human papillomavirus (HPV).
HPV enters the skin through small cuts on the foot. Under pressure from the soles of the feet, the wart is pushed inwards and covered by a thick layer of skin.
Pain may be associated with a change in gait, leading to compensations that can cause postural pain.
